About Us

Sawera Ashfaq (Team Lead)

My name is Sawera Ashfaq, and I am currently a senior majoring in Electrical Engineering, driven by a strong passion for innovation and problem-solving. As the project manager of the Foot Doc project, I lead the development and implementation of advanced solutions aimed at providing preventative foot health information. My work focuses on designing efficient and reliable electronic systems that utilize environmental data from sensors to predict the risk of foot fungus, enhancing early detection and prevention.

Through my internship at Aerospace Corporation, I have gained hands-on experience in signal processing, circuit analysis, embedded systems, and circuit design. I am deeply interested in developing new technologies, optimizing electronic systems, and solving real-world engineering challenges.

After graduation, I aim to contribute to groundbreaking advancements in secure satellite communications, working with organizations specializing in aerospace technology and defense communications.

As a project manager, I am responsible for organizing and overseeing technical tasks, ensuring timely execution, and managing documentation. I am committed to pushing the boundaries of innovation while maintaining a structured and efficient workflow.

Edward Fleming

I’m Edward Fleming, a dedicated student at GMU pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering. As an Eagle Scout, I’ve developed strong leadership skills and a passion for community service.

In my free time, you can find me tinkering with projects that challenge my creativity and problem-solving abilities. Whether it’s building a custom computer or designing a new electrical circuit, I love exploring the intersection of technology and innovation.

As a student at GMU, I’m excited to be part of a vibrant community of scholars who share my passion for learning and discovery. My goal is to use my knowledge and skills to make a positive impact in the world, whether through developing cutting-edge technologies or inspiring others to pursue their own interests in STEM fields.

Zekarias Belachew

Hey, my name is Zekarias Belachew and I’m a senior at George Mason University majoring in Electrical Engineering. My responsibilities in this project consists of finding and implementing a humidity/moisture sensor to measure the levels in the surrounding air in order to help with fungal detection.

My passion for electrical engineering has stemmed from my curiosity about the various functionalities of computers, and I am very eager to utilize the skills I’ve learned for this project as well as for projects moving forward. I love collaborating with others in similar fields to help tackle real world problems, and this project is the perfect challenge to test not only my abilities, but the abilities of my team members as well.

Yulieth Larobardiere

My name is Yulieth Larobardiere, and I am currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and an advanced master’s

degree in Power Engineering at GMU. My academic experience at GMU and previous institutes in electrical engineering has allowed me to develop extensive knowledge in circuit design, embedded systems, communication theory, and electrical schematics.

Additionally, I have gained experience in the tools necessary for executing projects and laboratory work, including programming languages such as C, C++, Python, and MATLAB. I am also experienced in using software programs for circuit analysis and design, such as PSPICE, VHDL, Xilinx Vivado, and CAD.

Likewise, data analysis and technical writing, which is one of my hobbies as well, have been crucial skills in my academic journey, allowing me to effectively outline and document laboratory findings. Furthermore, my fluency in both Spanish and English has opened more opportunities for learning and collaboration in electrical engineering and other related fields.

Joseph Arthur

Hey there! I’m Joseph Arthur, a 4th year computer engineering student who loves all things, hardware and software. Whether I’m working on Embedded Systems and Hardware Interfaces projects or geeking out over soccer especially the English premier league, I’m always up for a challenge.

Also, I’ve worked as contractor for big companies such as Amazon, Microsoft and Google. I worked as data center engineer as well as power technician at the data center. I have lots of technical skills and experience as well as industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, CCNA, Linux+, CYSA+, Server+ etc. Let’s connect and create something amazing together!

William Fields

My name is William Fields, a student at GMU working towards a degree in computer engineering. My interest has bounced from computer hardware, to robotics, to computer networking and communication protocols giving me a wide range of foundational knowledge I hone while conducting research for my personal projects.

In between projects I dabble in photography and illusionary art, which curbs my appetite for problem solving until I find new ideas for (quick) projects. My interest currently lies in computer vision, and object recognition. After graduation I plan to conduct further research into computer vision and hopefully conduct greater research into machine learning with robotic systems.
